This significant event, covered by the Saudi Press Agency, unfolded with a myriad of activities aimed at fostering the thriving world of beekeeping.
In a celebration of beekeeping excellence, the Jazan Honey Festival marked its ninth installment, emerging as a pivotal platform for over 80 beekeepers who gathered to showcase the richness of their craft. Organized by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture’s Jazan branch, the festival became a focal point for collaboration among various entities, research centers, and both governmental and nongovernmental organizations.
Strategic Focus on Cooperative Associations: Mohammed bin Ali Al-Atif, the general director of the ministry’s Jazan branch, outlined the festival's strategic objectives, placing emphasis on the involvement of cooperative associations and beekeepers. The overarching goal is to bolster honey production, enhance the quality standards of Jazan's honey for international markets, and underscore the region's distinct position as a sanctuary for local bee species.
Mobile Clinic and Bee Health: A notable feature of the festival was the deployment of a mobile clinic, a hub for bee health examinations. The specialized team conducted thorough examinations of bee samples, addressed prevalent bee diseases, and provided essential treatments. This initiative aligns with the festival's commitment to supporting the needs of participating beekeepers and ensuring the overall health of the bee population.
Educational Workshops and Scientific Advancements: Comprising eight educational and training workshops, the festival offered valuable insights to approximately 240 participants, including beekeepers and individuals interested in honey production. These workshops delved into scientific advancements in honey-related fields, covering processing industries, diagnosis of bee diseases and pests, sample collection procedures, the impact of pesticides on bees, and modern applications and technologies for beekeepers.
Impressive Turnout and Honey Showcase: With an impressive turnout of over 110,000 visitors during the 10-day event, the festival transformed into a showcase of excellence, displaying in excess of 600 tons of honey products. Attendees were treated to an array of premium honey varieties, including sidr, sumr, salam, dhiyaneh, majra, qatad, and sahaya. This extensive exhibition solidified the festival's status as a significant event in the beekeeping and honey industry.
As the festival concludes, its sweet success echoes the dedication and passion of beekeepers, fostering collaboration and elevating the honey industry in the Jazan region.
