Please, stop with the teasing: the weather is deeply abnormal
Please, stop with the teasing: the weather is deeply abnormal
There is no discussion to be had, when a weather-climate anomaly is confirmed, there is little to discuss.
What we ask ourselves is: why deny the evidence? Why pretend that nothing is happening? It is true that those who seriously deal with meteorology are reporting the reality of the facts, but we can guarantee you that words on the subject are wasted. Too many things are said, alas, not always corresponding to what is happening. We would also like to talk about something else, maybe the Azores High, maybe normal temperatures, maybe a nice cool down. But no, we can’t do that, we have to stick to the facts.
That’s how it is, there’s little to be done, the heat is definitely above normal, the temperatures are definitely above normal.
Isn’t it strange? Of course it is, beyond the fact that this type of scenario is becoming the most common one. The Summer of the past is no more, the splendid Mediterranean Summer has been lost along the way, the Azores High has become a mythological structure.
Yet it exists, trust us, this year it has occasionally appeared in some model projections that gave us hope, but nothing came of it. The African Anticyclone is too strong, too invasive, too confident in its means.
Right or wrong, it’s not up to us to say, but certainly denying the evidence serves no purpose.
It only serves to delude the reader that something might change or is changing, when in fact the scenario is and will always be the same. From now until mid-August, as written in specific in-depth articles, international calculation centers are clear: heatwave, strong heat, and endless sultriness.
So it won’t be pleasant at all, unless you stay in air-conditioned places. Then yes, you can breathe, otherwise no. What can we do? This is our Summer now, it is no longer the Mediterranean Summer but the African Summer.
