David Beckham's unusual new career move
David Beckham is making an unexpected career change, with an official move in a more homely direction.
The soccer legend has been preparing for the move for four years, tending to the bees at his £12million (approx. $23.6 million) Cotswolds estate in order to launch a new business from the honey they produce.
The former footballer has this week lodged a trademark application through his company DB Ventures Limited to make a new venture out of the hobby.
Rather than going with his wife Victoria Beckham's suggestion of "David's sticky stuff", he has decided to go with the name "Bee Up".
A source told The Sun, "David absolutely loves getting outside and looking after all of the family's hives.
"It's very early days so nothing will be out for a while yet. But he is putting the wheels in motion to turn it into a side hustle.
The 49-year-old has longvdocumented his affinity for the bees on his estate, sharing videos of himself removing the hives and packing honeycombs.
He has even on occasion gotten his children on board, taking a picture with Romeo, Cruz, and Harper.
When he met with King Charles earlier this year, the pair bonded by sharing beekeeping tips.
The former football star had a private meeting with the monarch a few months ago to discuss his new ambassadorial role for the monarch's charity, the King's Foundation, which champions sustainability.
"It was inspiring to hear from the King about the work of His Majesty's Foundation during my recent visit to Highgrove Gardens – and compare beekeeping tips!" The Football star said, per The Telegraph UK.
The 49-year-old developed a passion for beekeeping after spending three months at their family home in the Cotswolds during pandemic lockdowns.
Now he has invested in the craft, building his own hives and wearing a monogrammed beekeeping suit.
