National Beekeepers Cooperative Society’s second limited mentorship programme now open

The National Beekeepers Cooperative Society Ltd. has announced the opening of applications for the second volume of its Mentorship Programme, aimed at improving the skills and knowledge of committed beekeepers. This new phase builds on the success of the first programme, which is expected to conclude in September 2024, and aims to foster further development within the beekeeping sector.

In the inaugural year, five beekeepers participated and are set to receive four nucs (nucleus colony), valued at $2,600, in October 2024. The insights and experiences gained from this initial programme have motivated the Cooperative to launch a second year, providing enhanced opportunities for participants to advance their skills.

This year-long initiative will pair beekeepers with a minimum of two years of experience with seasoned mentors who will guide them in mastering advanced techniques and innovative practices. Those who complete at least 80% of the course requirements will acquire substantial knowledge and will be eligible to receive three nucs at a reduced price of $650, with the overall program valued at $19,400.

Mr. Kevin James, President of the National Beekeepers Cooperative Society Ltd., expressed enthusiasm about the expansion of the mentorship programme, stating,

“It’s a testament to our commitment to building a stronger beekeeping community through knowledge sharing and mentorship.”

Beekeepers interested in participating are encouraged to complete a short application form available on the National Beekeepers Cooperative Society Limited’s Facebook page. This application will help evaluate the backgrounds and goals of applicants to ensure a suitable mentorship match. It is important to note that only members of the National Beekeepers Cooperative can participate in this programme. Those who are not members are invited to join to take advantage of this opportunity.

The application deadline is October 18, 2024.
