A 38-year-old man died and his mother was critically injured when they were attacked by a swarm of bees while lighting lamps at a local temple in Karaunda Chaudhary village of the Kotwali Dehat area on Diwali on Friday.
The deceased, Vikas Tyagi, is the son of Narendra Tyagi, a BJP functionary and former village head.
Narendra said, “My wife and son went to the temple to light diyas on Diwali when they were attacked by a swarm of bees.
On hearing the noise, villagers somehow rescued them both.”
He added, “They were taken to a private hospital but Vikas succumbed to his injuries on the way to the medical facility.”
A doctor said Anita's condition was critical but stable.
