 Art exhibit at Airlie Gardens featuring ten unique honeybees

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — An art exhibit at Airlie Gardens will have you buzzing for some time. 

“BUZZWORTHY!” has been up since July 12th and features 10 fiberglass creative honeybees created by a select group of artists. WWAY caught up with one artist, Brooks Koff, who carefully crafted a honeybee piece by piece. She mentioned she does not log her hours, but she knows it took her a lot of time to complete, she had a lot of fun doing it.  

Koff said, “The process is fun for me in that I don’t see the finished product until I grout it because the grout brings it all together, but it is a work of love.“

Koff adds she does not follow a particular pattern when doing a project like this and she has to glue each piece individually, so she was a ‘busy bee’ working hard on the assignment. The ‘bee-utiful’ exhibit will be up through December 31st.
