Climatologists associate abnormal heat with climate change
According to the calculations of the Climate Center (USA), during the hot period with high temperature values, which is recorded on the territory of Ukraine and south-eastern Europe, the index of climate change reached the maximum level - 5.
The press secretary of the Ukrhydrometeorological center Natalya Ptukha told the Media Center of Ukraine about this.
"Such a high value of the index indicates that abnormal temperatures are associated with climate change. And in the future there is a possibility that the situation with heat will worsen every year. From year to year, periods with warm weather and heat waves are increasing, and the number of periods with cold weather is decreasing. There is such a tendency, and climatologists around the world are talking about it," Natalya Ptukha notes.
She adds that every month of the last year was abnormally warm, and high temperature values were recorded across the globe, and the projected global average temperature of the Earth has already exceeded 1,5 °C.
"Now it is impossible to say that the climate and climate zones have changed radically in Ukraine, but there are changes, especially in the southern regions. Farmers there are already trying to grow new crops, which need more accumulation of effective temperatures for their development, and now this opportunity appears," says Natalya Ptukha.
According to her, simultaneously with the introduction of new crops into the crop rotation by agricultural producers, the question arises: how to grow them, for this, irrigation is needed. In the southern regions there has always been a problem with land irrigation, and after the disaster at the Kakhovskaya HPP there are big problems with it.
However, Natalya Ptukha notes that the climate is changing and it is necessary to adapt to new conditions.
