A large swarm of honey bees which had gathered close to a Co Armagh park have been successfully rehomed.
A video of the bee nest appeared on social media on Sunday after Ulster Unionist MLA Robbie Butler warned residents in Craigavon.
He shared a video on social media showing the large honey bee nest in the area.
In a video posted on his X account, the huge swam of bees could be seen gathered on a sign in the Moira Park area.
"Honey bee swarm at Moira Park near Library entrance. Council notified,” he wrote
The video showed the nest swarmed on a no parking sign in the area.
In an update on Monday Mr Butler wrote: “Happily rehomed and thanks to the local beekeeper who safely recovered them.”
Bee swarms are common and are part of a honey bee’s natural process. They form the nest to ensure the colony is reproducing and it happens after the old queen leaves with some of the bees.
According to experts, if you do notice a nest, you are advised not to attempt to remove it yourself as this could harm the bees and also yourself. They recommend contacting a expert who can humanely remove the nest.
Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council have been contacted for comment.
