Don't poison my bees, urges beekeeper

A beekeeper is appealing to people not to poison colonies - after losing a large number of their bees to poisoners.

Will Radcliffe of Honey Mann took to Facebook to urge people not to poison colonies to get rid of bees.

He says he's recently lost half his colonies in West Baldwin after someone laid out poison, which can have a cascading effect as bees from other colonies can transfer the poison to their hives up to two miles away.

Will's urging people to consider the broader consequences of their actions.

Poisoning Bees:
I have had several problems, in particular West Baldwin where I lost 50% of my colonies in that location. Although I know who and why I won't name the offenders. What I want to get across is the impact of poisoning bees.
If you poison a colony the bees from approx 2 miles away will rob out the failed "poisoned" hive and transfer the poison to their hives thus poisoning them and the chain goes on. In addition when diluted enough to not kill the colony it now can enter the human food chain. So do not! under any circumstance poison honey bee colonies unless you can remove all of the contaminated nest material. Please when posting "how do I get rid of these bees" etc consider the broader consequences and tell people not to poison bees!
