MU Extension offers free urban beekeeping class on Aug. 1

University of Missouri Extension’s Heroes to Hives program will offer a free class on urban beekeeping 2:30-4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, on the campus of the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

MU Extension horticulture specialist Eli Isele, who leads the program in the St. Louis urban area, says the class is a good introduction for those interested in beekeeping. Topics include general bee biology, how to manage bee hives, how to site urban apiaries and the economics of beekeeping.

The class is free, but registration is required so that sufficient materials will be available. Register at https://mizzou.us/UrbanBeekeeping24. If you have questions, call 636-970-3000. The class will be held at 8225 Florissant Road, St. Louis.
