Ukraine is implementing a new climate policy according to EU norms

Verkhovna Rada adopted in the first reading the draft law on the main principles of state climate policy.

On Tuesday, July 16, the Verkhovna Rada adopted in the first reading draft law No. 11310 on the basic principles of state climate policy, designed to bring Ukrainian climate legislation closer to EU law.

The parliamentary Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management recommended that the draft climate law, developed by the Ministry of Environment, be adopted as a basis in the first reading.

"Project Law No. 11310 is the basis for building the climate architecture of Ukraine. It gives a start to the following draft laws, which will allow us to fully implement strategic goals, become closer to climate neutrality, and bring our legislation closer to European legislation. In addition, this is an important stepping stone for Ukraine to receive financing under the Ukraine Facility program," said Minister Ruslan Strilets.

According to him, climate policy is a marker of the state's civilization. European states have many years of experience in its implementation. Ukraine is still at the beginning of this important path.
