Hands-on beekeeping training conducted in Waromung village

MOKOKCHUNG, SEPTEMBER 24 (MExN): The Mokokchung Forest Division organized a hands-on beekeeping training session on September 21 at Waromung village as part of the “Forest and Biodiversity Management in the Himalaya, Nagaland” Project (FBMP). This project, co-financed by the Federal Republic of Germany through KfW (German Development Bank), aims to promote sustainable forest management and enhance livelihood opportunities for local communities in Nagaland.

The training focused on villages within the Batch-1 area, which includes Alongkima, Khar, Mongchen, Dibuia, and Waromung. The project aims to improve biodiversity conservation, create better connectivity, and incentivize communities for protecting their Community Conserved Areas.

The event was attended by members of the Community Conserved Areas (CCA), the Village Council, and the Nongnang Self-Help Group (SHG). Lipokinla Pongen chaired the program, with Tali Ao, Convergence Expert from DMU Mokokchung, welcoming participants and thanking the resource person for his commitment to the training. He emphasized the importance of practical skills for making beekeeping a sustainable income-generating activity.

T Chubagangshi, an award-winning apiculturist recognized as the Best Beekeeper from the Northeast by the Tribal Affairs Ministry (TRIFED) on World Bee Day, led the technical session. He shared valuable insights into beekeeping techniques and addressed various challenges faced by beneficiaries in the field.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks from the Nongnang SHG leader, who expressed gratitude to FBMP for their support and for providing the training.
