Aspiring beekeepers and hobbyists are invited to a one-day Introduction to Beekeeping hosted by The Bee Shop on 26 October 2024.
This workshop has been designed to learn about the fascinating world of bees, this will include both theory and fieldwork.
Kenneth Nel from the association is a local beekeeper who raises awareness around the safety of locals, and shines a light on the importance of bees in society.
He previously told Bloemfontein Courant that joining a local beekeeper’s association or group of like-minded individuals and networking with fellow beekeepers are great ways to get insight before committing to expensive equipment.
Nel mentions that you get direct exposure to open days, field days and beekeeping events where all aspects of practical and theoretical beekeeping can be experienced and learned.
