Saudi Reef Provides Saudi Beekeepers Training in Italy on Latest Beekeeping, Queen Production Technologies
The Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program (Saudi Reef) has organized a study visit to Italy for a delegation of Saudi beekeepers, in cooperation with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), to enhance their skills and introduce them to the latest global techniques in beekeeping and queen bee production within the program's efforts to develop the sector in the Kingdom.
The visit falls within the international training program recently launched by Saudi Reef to contribute to the growth and development of farmers' capabilities and skills. The program educates farmers on modern agricultural practices through international study tours focused on specific agricultural fields. The delegation included model beekeepers with demonstration apiaries to share their expertise with other beekeepers, as well as representatives from cooperative beekeeper associations.
Saudi Reef noted that the visit aims to enhance the professional skills of Saudi beekeepers and expose them to the latest global practices and technologies in beekeeping and queen production, advancing the sector in line with the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030.
Saudi Reef also highlighted the importance of implementing the advanced techniques observed in Italy to further develop the beekeeping sector in the Kingdom, while reinforcing cooperation between the two sides through the exchange of expertise and information.
The visit included field tours with Italian beekeepers to exchange expertise, to honey packaging factories ensuring honey quality, and to beekeeping equipment factories, including the LEGA factory, which exports products to 65 countries. The delegation also visited the CREA Research Center for Agriculture and Beekeeping in Bologna, one of Italy's oldest research centers.
