Waco beekeeping expert wins top honors at state fair

Danielle Fleming of Waco, an expert beekeeper, won first place at the State Fair of Texas Honey Show for both dark and medium amber honey in the extracted honey/polished jar category.

This was Danielle's first time entering the state fair competition, which saw a record-breaking number of entries this year.

"I am honored to have placed in such a competitive and renowned event, and thrilled to have won first place for both dark and medium amber honey," Fleming said. "It just goes to show that education, dedication, hard work, and putting my heart into the bees truly pays off."

Fleming has become an expert in her field, consistently advocating for the importance of sustainable beekeeping practices and education.

She will teach two classes at McLennan Community College next spring and summer on international honey tasting experience and medicinal uses of honey.

Fleming serves as youth program director for the Temple Area Beekeepers Association, teaches Beekeeping 101 classes monthly and is a mentor in the Hives for Heroes program.
